Our title sponsor and partners in the EOL line of McMillan Rifles has been asked by Bank of America to sever ties because they are considered a firearm manufacturer. Here at Extreme Outer Limits, we feel that the decision by Bank of America to not do business with a company that builds firearms used by today’s military, cuts us all to the core and makes a very strong statement about what is in store for the gun owners of America. Whomever made this decision has zero touch with “our” America and the many Americans alive and dead that fought for our freedoms. We encourage our fans, whom currently bank with B of A, to choose another bank that support the freedoms of our country’s citizens and the 2nd amendment right.

Here is the original message posted on the McMillan Group Facebook page from Kelly D. McMillan, Director of Operations, this past Thursday recounting the event:

McMillan Fiberglass Stocks, McMillan Firearms Manufacturing, McMillan Group International have been collectively banking with Bank of America for 12 years. Today Mr. Ray Fox, Senior Vice President, Market Manager, Business Banking, Global Commercial Banking came to my office. He scheduled the meeting as an “account analysis” meeting in order to evaluate the two lines of credit we have with them. He spent 5 minutes talking about how McMillan has changed in the last 5 years and have become more of a firearms manufacturer than a supplier of accessories.

At this point I interrupted him and asked “Can I possible save you some time so that you don’t waste your breath? What you are going to tell me is that because we are in the firearms manufacturing business you no longer what my business.”

“That is correct” he says.

I replied “That is okay, we will move our accounts as soon as possible. We can find a 2nd Amendment friendly bank that will be glad to have our business. You won’t mind if I tell the NRA, SCI and everyone one I know that B of A is not firearms industry friendly?”

“You have to do what you must” he said.

“So you are telling me this is a politically motivated decision, is that right?”

Mr. Fox confirmed that it was. At which point I told him that the meeting was over and there was nothing let for him to say.

I think it is import for all Americans who believe in and support our 2nd amendment right to keep and bear arms should know when a business does not support these rights. What you do with that knowledge is up to you. When I don’t agree with a business’ political position I can not in good conscience support them. We will soon no longer be accepting Bank of America credit cards as payment for our products.

I would like to make a statement in regards to a recent article that was written in an Idaho publication that made several inaccurate claims regarding me as a poacher.

I was on a hunt in Idaho in 2010. I had a license, and a tag, during a legal season. I however had a admin problem in the office during our busy schedule and did not have all of the proper documents for the deer that were taken. I absolutely was convinced that I had everything in order before I left on the hunt, but did not double check. Until it was to late, I was unaware that any rules had been broken. Once I realized the problem, I did not compound the problem with any further attempts to try and make my situation worse. Once I was confronted, I openly admitted to the mistake. The state of Idaho and myself came to a very good agreement, this agreement was good for both. I agreed to the fine and restitution for the animal. They agreed to not hold any charges or further actions against me. This was a simple agreement. There would be no compact punishment, or Lacey act issues, as I have hunted Idaho for 13 years and have never had a single thing out of order. This was recognized by both parties, and as I mentioned, was totally agreeable to the parties involved.

Now as the media does best, they have blown this out of proportion against me for the benefit of filling some print space. I am between a rock and a hard place, and have decided to take the high road with our viewers and fans, and explain this in depth directly to them, as I am a regular guy and have taken responsibility for my mistake.

My sponsors are behind me 110%. I could not be luckier to be associated with such a great group of companies, but more importantly a great bunch of people. They have been completely understanding as mistakes do happen. I am a professional and sometimes professionals do make mistakes at their jobs. It just so happened when I did, the media was right there to try to destroy me.

We will be filming as usual with no changes to our schedule to insure we continue to meet the needs of our fans and viewers. We hope this will not diminish our integrity.

Thanks for everyone’s support and understanding on this matter.

I am at the SCI show and am standing next to Bob Beck from EOL as I write this post. We just received the design from Bryan Litz for the new Berger 7mm 195 gr EOL Hybrid Hunting bullet.

It has an estimated averaged G1 BC of .794 and a G7 BC of .406. For those who understand such things, this bullet has a G7 form factor of .850. For those who don’t know what that means it means that this bullet is the slickest (in terms of velocity retention) on the planet.

Bryan has relayed that this bullet, at an estimated 1.637″ long, will need at least a 1:8.5″ twist to be stabilized. Rumors of this bullet (started by your’s truly) started several people asking the question of what twist will be required. This is the reason for me starting this thread. So those who are interested in trying this bullet can start working on getting barrels. By the time you’d be able to get one we should have this bullet available.

I have been using the long range hunting handloads I use in my 300 RUM’s. The bullets I use for hunting are the 200 grain nosler accubond and the 180 grain C-21 Cutting Edge lathe turned bullet. Making slight adjustments for better accuracy in this particular rifle. The results have been impressive and I hope the guys don’t think I have been fudging because I have not and have just been developing loads and shooting it as I would any rifle I own. So far I have shot it out to 1000 yards and have pictures of the targets. They are impressive! This rifle will easily take big game animals at 1000 yards if the shooter has the ability to do so. So far my longest shot on game was an elk over 1000 yards earlier this week and the shot was fairly trivial the rifle shot so well. I have shot groups through the same hole at 100 yards. At longer ranges the rifle will shoot as good as a hunter can hold it. The fliers I have had with it I called as my fault when I pulled the trigger and knew where I would find the shot. It was there those couple of times. Last week getting ready for the elk hunt I ranged a target at just under 1000 yards folded down the bipod as in a hunting situation and fired at the target one cold bore shot for a kill. The bullet went through a 6″ bullseye. When practicing for hunting I drive or walk away from the target to an unknown distance. Then I stop, range the target and fire simulating a stalk/hunting situation. Have a nice place to do that on the desert BLM land.

I am sold on the rifle. It has everything a long range hunter would ask for. The rifle is so well balanced with the stock selection that it is easy to carry hunting all day while at the same time having sufficient weight for an accomplished hunter to make precise accurate
long range kills.

(1) Premium Grade Stainless Steel. The body of every action is machined from 17-4 stainless steel. This is a tougher, more corrosion resistant material compared to 4000-series alloy often used on firearms. The surface of the action is hardened to 42-43 RC. The bolt body uses even tougher 9310 steel, surface hardened to over 60 RC. Tight benchrest tolerances. Decades of experience in the benchrest circuit have shown that absolute concentricity of the bolt and the action body around the axis defined by the bore line of the barrel is paramount to precision shooting. Each McMillan action is CNC machined from a centerless ground billet blank, not a forging. The face of the action is absolutely perpendicular to the axis of the bolt. Tolerances on general metalwork are held to within 0.005″. Critical parts are held to 0.0005″ tolerances.

(2) Fluted Bolt Aids Reliability. Flutes sweep mud and grit away, helping to keep the action operating smoothly in harsh environments and reduces overall weight.

(3) Accepts Remington-Style Trigger.

(4) Even the underside of a McMillan Action is a “work of art”. In a production action, this area is finished poorly with burrs and tool marks to save costs. In contrast, every component of a McMillan G30 action shows precision engineering and attention to detail throughout, whether the area is hidden or exposed.

(5) Recessed Bolt Face for strength. The bolt face, the barrel shank and the action all surround the cartridge head to add strength in this critical area during ignition. Dual Fail-Safe Ejector. The McMillan G30 push feed action uses a Remington-style plunger ejector, plus a secondary backup spring-loaded mechanical ejector that lifts up as the bolt body passes over it at the end of the stroke. Bolts are fitted to receiver by hand, filing the camming angles and lapping the locking lugs.

Bolt Raceways Are Cut with Wire EDM. Electrical Discharge Machining produces tighter tolerances, no tool marks, and a smoother sliding bolt.

The McMillan push feed action uses a “Sako-style” claw extractor of our own design. This produces positive extraction and push-round feeding. Control round feed bolts use a unique extractor housed in the locking lug eliminating the need to cut an extractor slot in the barrel and also us to hold closer tolerances in the bolt to receiver fit. CRF are available on all cartridges except those with Rigby size .590 case head.

(6) No Tools Bolt Disassembly. The innovative G30 bolt disassembles easily without tools so you can clean the firing pin assembly.

Take the bolt in left hand, palm facing down, with the bolt toward your thumb. Place your left thumb on the bolt handle while gripping the bolt body. Grasp the cocking piece housing in your right hand and rotate away from you about 1/4 turn. Then remove the firing pin. To replace the firing pin, place the bolt in your left hand in the same manner, grab only the cocking piece housing, slide the firing pin in, rotating it slightly until it slides into the guide slot and forward portion of the cocking piece touches the bolt. Now press the cocking piece housing toward the bolt compressing the firing pin spring. Once the cocking piece housing is butted against the bolt body rotate the housing counter clockwise until the cocking piece slips into the locking detent. Simple, no tools firing pin removal.

While the firing pin is out notice there is very little grease on the spring. None is needed. The bolt and the internals are finished with NP3 patented electro less nickel impregnated with Teflon particles) which not only provides the very best in corrosion and wear resistance but also has a very high degree of lubricity so it eliminates the need for grease. We do use a little red gun oil on the firing pin body where it meats the bolt body.

Your rifle has a Schneider match grade stainless #5 fluted barrel will polygon rifling. Berger bullets are thin jacketed bullets which like to be seated on the lands. If you look at the bore you will notice that it does not have convention lands and grooves but rather flats. This adds velocity and does not engrave the bullets. With less jacket deformation the bullet actually flies truer. When we get you some ammo you should see a significant difference in the accuracy at 1000 yards. It has a Vias break.

The stock is basically a clone of the Sako Hunter, the most popular hunting stock in the history of McMillan Fiberglass stocks. The Monte Carlo with cheek piece, along with the palm swell, makes the stock extremely comfortable. The fact that it has some cast off allows you to mount the rifle and find the sweet spot in the scope without having to tilt your heard. It also has some cant or toe out, which allows the toe of the recoil pad to fit into the shoulder crease without having to cant the rifle. The Decelerator pad is the best all around recoil reducing pad on the market, bar none. I would never use anything else, though we do install Limb Savers and Kick-eez if a stock customer requests it. I would not build a rifle with either.

Bob Beck of EOL designed the chamber specifically to shoot the Berger 180 VLD and seat them on the lands. He actually built a load with a COAL that would allow us to feed them from our mag box and eject a loaded round. Then McMillan had a chamber reamer made to those specs. The nice thing is, it will shoot almost all factory 300 RUM ammo without any signs of pressure, so even though it was designed specifically for this load, a customer is not limited to our ammo alone.

Finally, it has a McMillan 6061T6 aluminum 20 MOA scope base rail with a steel locking pin that sits against the front of the ejection port with 8-40 scope base screws.

I am home until January and will be shooting the rifle quite a bit at the
range. Will be trying to get a long range elk with it this weekend. I have
quite a few pictures to post on the forum and get started with the forum
evaluation. My son got a nice 5×4 mulie with it at 326 yards, one shot through
the chest and I got a very nice 10 point whitetail at 764 yards.

I am very impressed with the rifle’s quality, accuracy and balance. I have not
had a chance to shoot it yet other than a quick zero and shot the animals. I
shot one three shot group with the accuracy load I use in my 300 RUM and put
three through the same hole at 100 yards. Not a clover leaf, three through the
same hole just a little bigger than 30 caliber hole in the target. I can’t
wait to shoot it long range quite a bit. It is definitely a shooter, however
the quality, design and feel of the rifle impresses me most. I can tell you
did your homework. This rifle will satisfy the long range community wanting a
rifle in this weight class. I think getting it out there in front of numbers
of hunters is the key.

Re: E.O.L Rifles – McMillan

Ya, it was. I must admit I was a little intimidated when I found out they were gonna be there, but after getting a chance to talk to them I was at ease. They were very nice and Bob would sit there and answer all my questions and show us different things about the equipment and when I didn’t understand, he would take the time to patiently go over it again so I could understand. They are a real stand up couple and even their camera guy is awesome. We all had a great time hanging out and hunting. Oh, and it is all real when they get an animal. They go bone it out and pack it back themselves in miles of high country. No one is there to help them, they are the real deal!
